"2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY" is a countdown to tomorrow, a road map to human destiny, a quest for the infinite. It is a dazzling, Academy Award - winning visual achievement, a compelling drama of man vs. machine, a stunning meld of music and motion. It may be the masterwork of director Stanley Kubrick (who co-wrote the screenplay with Arthur C. Clarke)...and it will likely excite, inspire and enthrall for generations. To begin his voyage into the future, Kubrick visits our prehistoric ape-ancestry past, then leaps millennia (via one of the most mind-blowing jump cuts ever conceived) into colonized space, and ultimately whisks astronaut Bowman (Keir Dullea) into uncharted realms of space, perhaps even into immortality. "Open the pod bay doors, HAL." Let the awe and mystery of a journey unlike any other begin.

My all-time favorite film. I can watch this over and over again and find something
new and enjoy more and more every time I see it. I can not find one flaw in this movie.
With everything from it's writing, to it's cinematography, to it's use of music and effects, it seems so perfectly well crafted and put together that it is more important than any other film ever made.
I also think no matter who you are, there is at least one part of the film you will like, and no
matter how much you happen to know about film making you can tell that there is somebody
behind the wheel of this movie that knows exactly what they are doing.
Kubrick was a profound genius.
